Last week we had a special visitor! Remember Elliot, the Jan Fence mascot? Well, he paid a visit to the office and he looks better than ever. He could not have been more excited to see Robert, as you can tell by the picture Robert was equally excited!

Customized PVC

Depending on your towns codes regarding fences, you may be allowed to have a certain height fence in the back of your property but a different height in the front.

Jan Fence offers numerous options when faced with these codes and regulations... and one of our Design Specialists just showed me a great example of a custom option Jan Fence can offer.

Here is a curved PVC fence that gracefully brings the fence from one height to another. Check out our brochure for even more options!!

Memorial Day

"Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer."

Jan Fence is very grateful for everything our current and former members of the U.S. Military. We would like to take this time to truly show are gratitude and appreciation and hope everyone else does as well.

Have a safe and fun extended weekend, but keep in mind the reason behind this holiday!

Veterans Day

“When our perils are past, shall our gratitude sleep?” -George Canning
The quote by George Canning speaks volumes. It is important to remember and pay tribute to events long past and to never waiver in our gratitude.
Today is Veterans Day and everyone at the Jan Fence family would like to take a moment to pay our respect to those brave men and women who have risked their lives in the past, and sadly, the present to preserve everything that we sometimes take for granted.
We may sometimes forget how privileged we are to have the freedoms and birth rights that we are granted simply by being born American. It is important that today, Veterans Day, we truly acknowledge the hardships our Veterans went through to obtain our freedom as well as the hardships soldiers endure to preserve them.

Interested in Vinyl Privacy Fencing?

So you’re interested in getting some vinyl privacy fencing. With so many different styles and series you may be asking yourself, “Which one do I choose?” Well, in this segment, we’re hoping to make the decision of finding the perfect fence a little easier for you.
All of our Active Yards vinyl fences are constructed of a high-quality PVC material. They feature inter-connecting pickets and reinforced inserts along the bottom to increase strength and durability. All of our vinyl posts are cemented into the ground, ensuring your fence will stand up against even the harshest of weather conditions.
However, Active Yards, our primary vinyl fence provider, offers three different Series of fencing in select privacy styles: Home, Harbor, and Haven. The differences between the Series will help you to determine which fence is best suited to your needs. So, we’re going to break it down for you.
 The Harbor Series: Good
The Active Yards Harbor Series consists of traditional, lighter, no-nonsense panels. Harbor fences feature Tongue & Groove pickets, flat top rails, and a composite insert. The Tongue & Groove pickets are fitted at the end to slide into one another, adding to the fence’s strength. The composite insert along the bottom rail also adds to the fence’s durability. This is the cheaper alternative for vinyl fencing. You can save up to $35 per 8’ long panel (vs. Home Series fencing)! The Harbor Series is perfect for your basic privacy needs.
To Sum It Up: If you’re looking for a less expensive, functional solution to vinyl fencing, the Harbor Series is the way to go.
The Home Series: Better
The Active Yards Home Series features the largest selection for vinyl fencing. Home fences are an upgrade in strength and durability from the Harbor Series, and feature GlideLock™ pickets (unique only to Active Yards fences), Decorative rails, and an aluminum insert. Active Yards’ patented GlideLock™ technology includes pickets that lock into one another, creating a tighter fit that offers virtually no gap. GlideLock ™ pickets resist wind pressure better than traditional tongue and groove pickets so even in a storm, your privacy isn’t going anywhere. Home fences are also reinforced with an aluminum insert along the bottom rail to withstand even the most severe weather conditions. In addition, the Home Series features beveled rails to really enhance the decorative features.
To Sum It Up: If you’re looking for increased strength and durability, in addition to a slightly more finished touch, the Home Series is the way to go.
 The Haven Series: Best
The Active Yards Haven Series offers all of the incredible features of the Home Series, but takes things up a notch by including a trim cap along the top rail. This functional and decorative addition makes for an attractive and ornate finish.
To Sum It Up: If you’re looking for an ornate or decorative solution for vinyl fencing, while still retaining maximum strength and durability, the Haven Series is the way to go.
No matter which Series you decide fits best for you, we guarantee absolute satisfaction. Active Yards is one of the world’s top fencing distributors, and only chooses a handful of fence companies to carry their products. We are lucky to offer such a wide variety of top-quality vinyl fences.
If you’re interested in getting your vinyl fence today, or have any additional questions regarding fencing, please feel free to give us a call at 973-694-4055. We would be happy to answer your questions and set you up with your free estimate! We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Suburban Home Show – Suffern, NY – NJ Fence Company

A little bit of snow (just 14′!) couldn’t stop us from going to the Suburban Home Show at Rockland County College in Suffern, NY this past weekend. We met some great people, past customers and hopefully future customers, with enthusiasm and excitement about the idea of transforming their yards into a safe haven.

Every year, we go to a few home shows and get a better idea of what people are looking for. Whether it be a new pool, swing set, or puppy, we enjoy learning about the options you are looking into as far as privacy, safety and beauty. This year, our Cypress Dogwood display  from Active Yards seemed to catch the most attention. This solid PVC is a great alternative to wood, and blends into the natural surroundings of your home beautifully.

On Saturday, estimators Al Laskowski and Robert Sweitzer opened the show and were later joined by some of our enthusiastic home office staff, Ashley MacDonald of the scheduling department and Jenn Schnaidt of the purchasing department. We met and mingled with some of the areas finest landscapers, construction contractors, pool companies and masons, among many others.

We hope to see many more past, present and future customers at next years show. We look forward to working with you!
